Deer Park Elementary School opened on August 3, 2006 with approximately 500 students on a campus of 51 portable "cottages" at a temporary location behind Citrus Park Elementary School. Originally identified at its inception as "Elementary School i" by the school district, Deer Park was later named by future student Adam Johnson, who noted all of the deer that frequented the location, and the park-like atmosphere where the school would be built.
In addition to Adam Johnson, the inaugural class of Deer Park Elementary consisted of students from the Fawn Ridge, Mandolin, Westchester, Twin Branch Acres, Highland Park, Preserves Lakes, and Lexington Park neighborhoods who voted, before the school even opened to be further known as the Deer Park "Rangers", choosing the school mascot and school colors of Green and Gold.
After one year at the temporary campus, construction was completed and August of 2007 saw the opening of Deer Park Elementary in its permanent and current location on Citrus Park Drive. A building dedication was held on May 4th, 2008 which was attended by many of the families, faculty members, and community members who helped create Deer Park and many of the fine traditions and high standards we still follow today.
Since its beginning Deer Park has been an 'A' rated school and has received many accolades and awards.
